The Power of Video on a website

If a photo is worth a thousand words, then how many words is a video worth?

There are so many benefits to have video on your website that benefit that end user or client. First of all, we can convey an idea, concept or product almost as well as you can in person which is ideal for a website.

Secondly, video which is professional and well done very accurately conveys a product or service without being misleading. You can also communicate instructions, tutorials, product reviews…the list is endless.

Can you imagine if Ikea had videos for putting all of their products together instead of the instruction sheets? Keep in mind your customers experience from pre-purchase to post-purchase? How could video benefit lead generation, sales, client retention etc.

Anther great place for video is on your social media accounts. Are you traveling for business? Share videos of:

  • Your travels
  • What inspires you
  • What motivates you
  • Perhaps what makes you smile or laugh

To get started with adding video for your website, I suggest starting to capture content when you have a chance. Mobile phones have great video capture these days along with great video editing apps such as PicPlayPost, VideoCollage and iMovie to name a few.
